The Society of the Divine Word – SVD

The Society of the Divine Word, popularly, Divine Word Missionaries, is an international Religious Missionary Congregation founded by a German priest, Arnold Janssen in 1875. Though initially it was a German Mission Society, soon it became an international congregation. Today there are over 7000 members hailing from over 80 countries and working in 84 countries, Myanmar being the latest one.

Being a missionary congregation with lay and clerical members, internationality is its basic characteristic, lived in international and multicultural communities. Through this we witness to the worldwide church in fraternal relationship and mission. We work especially in areas where the gospel has not yet or has only insufficiently been proclaimed, and where the local church  is not viable on its own or where we are invited for a specialized missionary apostolate. 

We seek dialogue with all and share the good news of God’s love with them. Our particular service is to enter into dialogue with people who do not have a faith community and are faith seekers; are poor and are marginalized; are of different cultures or are of different religious and cultural traditions.

Rooted in the Word, Committed to His Mission, is our motto and this is expressed through four primary apostolates: Biblical apostolate, Justice and Peace, Dialogue with religions and cultures and Communication. They are the characteristic dimensions of the SVD.

His Eminence, Cardinal Charles Bo, SDB invited us to the Yangon Archdiocese for Biblical apostolate in 2016. The House in Hmawbi was blessed on 16th December 2018. Currently four SVDs coming from Vietnam, Philippines, India and Poland are learning Burmese to be involved in biblical and pastoral work.  

Today our congregation has 6000 members, both priests and brothers working in 70 countries of the world. We are actively involved in Bible Apostolate, Justice and Peace and Integrity of Creation, Communication, and Mission animation. We are an international congregation with 43 nationalities.  Our Charism is to go to the places where Christ is not yet known or less known.  We came to Myanmar in  Dec 2018. And our house is situated in Hmawbi.

(SVD) ၏ အဓိပ္ပါယ်ဖွင့်ဆိုချက်

(SVD) ဆိုသည်မှာ၊ (Societas Verbl Divinl) အရှင်ဘုရား၏ နှုတ်ကပတ်တော်(သမ္မာကျမ်းစာ) ကမ္ဘာ အနှံ့သို့ ဟောပြောစေခြင်းဖြင့် ကမ္ဘာသူ ၊ ကမ္ဘာသားတို့ ကြားနာနိုင်ရန် ဖြန့်ဝေနေသာ သာသနာပြုအဖွဲ့ အစည်းတစ်ခုဖြစ်ပါသည်။ ၎င်းအဖွဲ့အစည်းကို ဟော်လန်နိုင်ငံ စတိုင်လ် (Steyl) မြို့တွင်၊ ၁၈၇၅ ခုနှစ်က ရဟန်းန္တာ (Saint Arnold J ... တည်ထောင်ခဲ့သည်။အဓိကရည်ရွယ်ချက်မှာ၊ နှုတ်ကပတ်တော်ကို လုံးဝ မကြားနာဘူးသော ဒေသများသို့ သာသနာ ပြုများကို လေ့ကျင့်ပေးပြီး၊ နှုတ်ကပတ်တော်ကို ဟောကြားစေရန် စေလွှတ်ခြင်းဖြစ်သည်။

   ကာသိုလ်လိပ် ခရစ်ယာန်ဘာသာကို အထူးကြည်ညိုလေးစားသော ကါသိုလ်လိပ် အိမ်ထောင်စုမှ (Goch မြို့)- ဂျာမဏီနိုင်ငံ (Germany) တွင် မွေးဖွားခဲ့သည်။ ပုဂ္ဂိုလ်သုံးပါး ဘုရားတစ်ဆူ၊ ဘုရားသခင် ၏ လူ့ဇာတိကိုယူပြီး၊ ကမ္ဘာကြီးသို့ ဖြန့်ကြတ်ကြေငြာချက်စကားတို့ကို (word. in crenate) အထူးအလေးထား ယုံကြည်သော ရဟန္တာ ဖခင်၏ လွှမ်းမိုးမှုအောက်တွင် ကြီးပြင်းခဲ့ပါသည်။

     ဘုရားသခင်၏ နှုတ်ကပတ်တော်(ဧဝံဂလိတရား)ကို... အထူးယုံကြည်ကိုးစားသည့်တွက် ဝိညာဉ်ရေးရာကိစ္စများ အများကိုနားလည်သဘောပေါက် ဟောပြောရာတွင် (S.V.D) အဖွဲ့၏ သာသနာ ပြုလုပ်ငန်းများတွင် တစ်ထောင့်တစ်နေရာက ပါဝင်လာပါသည်။ ရဟန္တာ အာနိူလ် (Saint Arnold Jarssen) က နှုတ်ကပတ်တော်ကိုအထူးအမွှန်းတင်လေးစား သမှုပြု သည့် အနေဖြင့် မိမိ၏ သာသနာပြုအဖွဲ့ကို (Society Divine Word) အမည် ခေါ်တွင်စေသည်။ အဖွဲ့အစည်း၏ဆောင်ပုဒ်မှာ (May the darkness of sin and the night of unbelieve vanish before the light of the word and the spirit of grace and may the heart of Jesus Live in the hearts of all people)qu: မင်းကြီး Pope Paul Vi က Arnold Janssen အား အောက်တိုဘာလ၁၉ ရက်နေ့၊ ၁၉၇၅ (19,Oct:1975) မှာသူတော်စင်အဖြစ် သတ်မှတ်ပြီးအောက်တိုဘာလ(၅ ရက်နေ့၊၂၀၀၃ ခုနှစ်) (5, Oct 2003)တွင် ရဟန်းမင်းကြီး Pope John Paull ၏ ရဟန်းန္တာအဖြစ်သို့ တင်မြောက်အသိမှတ်ပြုခဲ့သည်။      ဖိလိပိုင်လူငယ်တစ်ယောက်သည် မော်တော်ဆိုင်ကယ်ပေါ်မှ မြေပြင်သို့လဲကျပြီးဦးခေါင်း၌ ပြင်းထန် စွာဒဏ်ရာ ဒဏ်ချက်များကြောင့် ပြန်လည်ပြီး ပကတိကောင်းမွန်သော အနေအထားသို့ ပြန်မရောက် နိုင်ကြောင်းကို သိရှိသည့်အခါတွင် ရဟန္တာ (Arnold Janssen) အား ဆုတောင်းအကူအညီ မေတ္တာ ပို့ ခဲ့ရာတွင် မယုံကြည်နိုင်လောက်အောင် ပျောက်ကင်းပကတိမူလအနေအထားသို့ ရောက်ရှိလာ ကြောင်းကိုသူမ၏ ဆွေမျိုးများကာတို့လိပ်သာသနာတော်မှ ကြားသိလာသည့် အချက်သည်ရဟန္တာ အဖြစ်သို့ တင်မြောက်ရာတွင် အဓိကအချက် တနေရာမှာပါဝင်ပါသည်ယနေ့(SV.D)၏အခြေအနေး

ယခုကာလတွင်(S.V.D) အဖွဲ့သားများသည်၊ သာသနာ၏ နယ်ပယ် အသီးသီးမှ တက္ကသိုလ်၊ ကောလိပ်၊ အထက်တန်းကျောင်း အသီးသီးတွင် သင်ကြားရေးလုပ်ငန်းများကို ဆောင်ရွက်ပါဝင်လျှက် ရှိသည့်အပြင် အခြေခံအကျဆုံးသော လူ့အဖွဲ့များသို့ စိမ့်ဝင်၍ လှုပ်ရှားလုပ်ကိုင်လျှက်ရှိပါသည်။

        သာသနာပြုအဖွဲ့အစည်း အသီးသီးတို့သည် ထူးခြားသောအချက်အလက်များကြောင့် မိမိတို့၏ အဖွဲ့အစည်းများကို လူသိရှင်ကြားဖြစ်စေပါသည်။(S.V.D) ကိုသိရှိစေသောအချက်များမှာ ၁။Bible (နှုတ်ကပတ်တော်)၊ ၂။ Mission Animation (ပျော်ရွှင်၊ တက်ကြွစွာ ပါဝင်လှုပ်ရှားသာသနာပြုခြင်း၊ ၃။Communication( Audio, visual Articles)ရုပ်သံလှိုင်းများအားဖြင့် စာပေရေးသားဖြန့်ဝေခြင်း၊ ဆက်သွယ်ဆောင်ရွက်ခြင်း၄။ တရားမျှတခြင်းနှင့်ငြိမ်းချမ်းရေး(Justice & Peace)(Integrity of Creation) အရာရာကို ဘုရားရှင်က ဖန်ဆင်းထားပြီး ထိုအချက်အလက်များပေါ်၊ အထူးလေးစား ဆောင်ရွက်ပေးခြင်း(JPIC) အထက်ပါအချက်အလက်များသည် (S.V.D) ကို ပြီးပြည့်စုံစေပြီး၊ လူသိရှင် ကြားဖြစ်လာရပါသည်။ သာသနာနယ်ပယ်အသီးသီးခွဲ၍ ဆောင်ရွက်နေသော်လည်း အရေးပေါ်လိုအပ် ချက်များပေါ်မူတည်ပြဿနာများကို ဝိုင်းဝန်း မိသားစုစိတ်ဓါတ်ဖြင့် အတူတကွ ဖြေရှင်းဆောင်ရွက် ခြင်းသည်လည်း (S.V.D) ၏ ထူးခြားသော ဖြစ်စဉ်တွင် ပါဝင်ပါသည်။

(S.V.D) အဖွဲ့ဝင်များကို တာဝန်ခွဲဝေပေးဆပ်ခြင်းကို (S.V.D) ညွှန်ကြားရေးမှူးချုပ်မှ နေ၍ ခွဲ ဝေတာဝန်ပေးအပ်ပြီး အထူးသဖြင့် အထူးလိုအပ်သောနေရာများကို ဦးစားပေး ဆောင်ရွက် လေ့ရှိသည်။ ဤအချက်ကို ထောက်ရှု့ခြင်းအားဖြင့် (S.V.D) အဖွဲ့သားများသည် လူမျိုးပေါင်းစုံပါဝင်နေသည့် လက္ခာ ဖြစ်သည့် နိုင်ငံတကာအဖွဲ့လို အသွင်ဆောင်နေပါသည်။

   ရဟန္တာ (Saint Arnold) သည် ဒီဇင်ဘာ(၈) ရက်နေ့၊ ၁၈၈၉ ခုနှစ်တွင်Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit Servace Spritus Sanctae SSPS) 8 December1889 တွင် စတင်ဖွင့်လှစ်ခဲ့သည်။ ထို့အပြင် Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration (Servae Spiritus Sanctae Adoration Perpetue SSPSAP) December8,1896 တွင် ဖွင့်လှစ်ခဲ့ပါသည်။

  ဥရောပတခွင်၌ ကိုလိုနီဝါဒအမြင့်မားဆုံးရောက်ရှိနေချိန်တွင် ရဟန္တာ(Arnold)မှနေ၍ နှိမ့်ချ၊ ကျိုးနွံစွာဖြင့် (S.V.D) သာသနာပြုအဖွဲ့စည်းကြီးကို အထက်ကဖော်ပြခဲ့သည့်အတိုင်း Netherlands (Holland) နိုင်ငံတွင် တည်ထောင်ခဲ့ပြီး ယနေ့အခါတွင် (Catholic church) ကာသိုလိပ် အသင်းတော် ကြီး၏ အကြီးမားဆုံးသော သာသနာပြုအဖွဲ့တစ်ခု ဖြစ်လာပြီး ဖြစ်သည်(S.V,D)လုပ်ငန်းဆောင်ရွက် မှုသာမက အဖွဲ့ဝင်ဦးရေလည်း တိုးပွားလာနေကြောင်းယနေ့ဦးရေအားဖြင့် 5977 ဦးရှိပြီးနိုင်ငံပေါင်း (၇၉)နိုင်ငံ၌ လုပ်ငန်းအသီးသီးကို ဆောင်ရွက်လျှက်ရှိပါသည်။
