ထောက်ရှုချက် RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT(The Reflection on Pentecost - Mass of the Day Sunday 28/05/2923)(Gospel: John 20:19-23)Today we celebrate with the Church the solemnity of Pentecost. Is it only today that the Holy Spirit appears today? Have we received the Holy Spirit? What is the effect of receiving the Holy Spirit? In fact, the Holy Spirit is a gift that the Risen One gave to his disciples from the moment he rose from the dead. The day of Pentecost was only a public display of His power, and also to prove what Jesus had promised earlier about asking the Father to send a Helper. Receiving the Spirit is an important first step into the spiritual world. Jesus in human nature taught us to do the will of the Father while on earth. Even though he was the Son of God, he had to learn how to obey. He fulfilled his vocation to be human perfectly and became an example for all of us. He realizes that we still have many weaknesses and are not strong enough to fully live our vocation, so He hides so that the Holy Spirit can come and guide us. From here we enter new life; the life of the Kingdom of God. That life is defined by Saint Paul as a life of charity, joy, and peace in the Holy Spirit. Thus we are no longer dependent on the corrupt world. We are no longer slaves to sin but are forgiven and live in peace. These are also two important messages that today's Gospel wants to send to us. In the Gospel today there are two emphases. The first is peace. Christ brings peace to his disciples with the double greeting of peace, and peace is a Christian watchword. Peace was the song of the angels at Jesus’ birth. Each of Paul’s letters opens with a greeting of peace. The letter to the Ephesians proclaims that Christ is our peace, the reversal of all worry, strife, envy, jealousy, and self-seeking ambition. ‘Go in peace’ is Jesus’ dismissal of those he cures, and also the dismissal at the end of Mass. Peace was Jesus’ bequest to his disciples after the Last Supper. The second watchword is forgiveness, for God was always known as a God of mercy and forgiveness, as Jesus came to show by his constant approach to sinners. But the Lord’s Prayer shows that if we do not ourselves forgive, we block God’s forgiveness of ourselves too. Thus, the Church received the Holy Spirit from the day of Pentecost. From that day on, He always guides, sanctifies, and renews the Church until the end of time. Each of us also received the Spirit of When on the day of joining the church through baptism. Indeed we have entered new life and bear the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5: 22-23). In fact, even though we have received the Holy Spirit, we have not yet produced the fruit of the Spirit: we are angry, we are competitive, we are arguing... we are not at peace. The Holy Spirit has been given to each of us. However, for Him to really work and bear fruit in our hearts, we need to let Him take full control of our lives. It is He who will guide, sanctify and renew Our lives as God wants them to be.Shalom
