That is the question we often ask when we encounter difficulties along the way. Why do we meet a lot of disadvantages when we follow the Lord? In the face of these concerns, let us let today's Gospel shine.Today's Gospel tells the conversation of Jesus and Peter about the reward for those who give up everything to follow the Lord. (Mark 10:28-31). The upper part of the Gospel passage tells of a rich young man who came to see Jesus. He asked Jesus about how to have eternal life. Jesus told him to sell everything, give it to the poor, and follow Him. The young man left because he had many possessions (Mark 10:23-27).Peter wanted to join the conversation. Perhaps he saw that his group had given up everything to follow the Master. He wondered how and when there will be life like the young man asked. "What about us? We have left everything and followed you." (Mark 10:28).Jesus said to him: "I tell you solemnly, there is no one who has left house, brothers, sisters, father, children or land for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not be repaid a hundred times over, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and land – not without persecutions". (Mark 10:29-30). Indeed, those who believe in the Gospel and lead themselves to serve it will never lack for anything. They don't have a home, but wherever they go, they have a place to stay. They leave their own family to enter a larger family. They give up their parents, wife and children, brothers and sisters, but wherever they go, they have loved ones ready to welcome them. And more importantly, those who follow the Lord get into a close relationship with Him. Perhaps we are in the same mood as Peter and the apostles. We wonder what the benefits of following the Lord are for us. Through the apostles, the Lord is also answering to each of us: there is no one who has given up everything and followed Me who will not gain a hundredfold in this life and eternal life in the hereafter. Surely each person has a very clear experience of what he has been receiving from God through his own life. We don't give up anything, on the contrary, we get much more in return. So when we come to God, let's rest assured, let's dedicate our whole life to God strongly and decisively because He will take care of everything for us.

Shalom
